The Border Security Force (BSF) has arrested three drug peddlers and seized six drones, 2.5 kg heroin and Rs 1.8 lakh from their possession near the Amritsar border. The force has seized 14 drones near the Indo-Pak border in the past three days.
BSF officials said they arrested a narcotics smuggler from a field near Dhanoe Kalan village. They confiscated 1 kg heroin and a drone from the smuggler, who was in contact with his handlers in Pakistan.
During questioning, the accused disclosed the names and location of his associates. BSF troops rushed to that location and nabbed his two accomplices, both residents of Neshta village.
Earlier in the day, the BSF seized five flying machines and 480 gm heroin from different parts of Amritsar and Gurdaspur belt. Yesterday, it confiscated three drones. In 2024, the BSF has confiscated 238 drones so far.
Due to prevailing dense fog these days, ISI-supported Pakistani state and non-state actors had increased their activities to smuggle drugs and weapons into India, a BSF official said.
