Advises youngsters to stay away from drugs and engage in sports
14 November, 2025 – Muktsar : Jujhar Singh ‘Tiger’ from Chamkaur Sahib in Ropar district, who recently became the first Indian to win an international Power Slap championship, says that “he aims to win the title belt in this sport”. He also plans to open academies to train boys and girls in self-defence.
Jujhar visited the residence of SAD leader Jagjit Singh Honey Fattanwala here on Thursday evening. While interacting with scribes, he said that he was currently gaining weight to reach 120 kg in order to realise his dream of winning the Power Slap title belt.
“My father also did wrestling and played kabaddi. My younger brother is also practising Power Slap and is set to compete in February. There are only four or five players, including a girl Manjot from Punjab and some from Haryana who are into this sport,” said Jujhar.
He further advised youngsters to stay away from drugs and engage in sports.
“I also appeal to parents not to give motor vehicles to their children below 18 years of age. Those who want to take up this sport must train under professional coaches for at least four to five years in any professional fighting discipline. All sports are tough, including kabaddi. This slap game requires strong mental strength,” said Jujhar.
Notably, Jujhar had secured victory in his debut match at the Power Slap event held in Abu Dhabi on October 24, a competition officially sanctioned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Before making his Power Slap debut, Jujhar trained intensively for over a year.
His routine included strength workouts, hand conditioning and balance drills to improve strike control. He also practiced breathing and neck-strengthening exercises to build resistance against slaps.
