Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurates City Surveillance and Traffic Management System at Sohana police station building
The long-awaited City Surveillance and Traffic Management System was inaugurated by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann at the Sector-79 police station on Thursday.
Mohali traffic police began issuing e-challans to traffic violators starting Thursday.
The system, which has been in development since February 2024, missed three previous deadlines—September, November, and January 2025—before being launch today.
As many as 405 CCTV cameras have been installed at 20 key intersections across the city for strict surveillance, under the Rs 17.70-crore project, which aims to reduce traffic violations and thereby accidents.
Mohali reported 312 deaths in 536 road accidents last year, and so far, 20 lives have been lost this year.
