Binder Garcha was killed near his farm gate; police find burned vehicle believed linked to suspects
14 January, 2026 – Chandigarh : A Punjabi businessman was shot and killed in broad daylight around 12:05 pm (Canada Time Tuesday) near the gate of his farm in Surrey, media reports said.
The victim, Binder Garcha, 48, was attacked at his property located at 176 Street and 35 Avenue.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has assumed control of the investigation. Authorities later discovered a burned vehicle in South Surrey, believed to be linked to the suspects who fled the scene.
No arrests have been made, and the motive remains undisclosed.
However, community sources and reports have expressed concern over escalating targeted violence against established Punjabi entrepreneurs, highlighting ongoing patterns of extortion and organised crime in the region.
