The investigating team is yet to verify the allegations about the alleged dubious past life of the accused and his wife’s involvement in the case
30 January, 2026 – Khanna : The Khanna police have initiated a probe into an incident in which a pastor allegedly kept a 21-year-old woman from the Kartar Nagar area in illegal detention at an undisclosed location for over three weeks.
The accused, Chaman Lal Masih, has been arrested after the girl was rescued by social activists led by Nihang Singhs of Taruna Dal on Thursday.
Khanna DSP Vinod Kumar said a probe had been initiated to ascertain the sequence of events leading to the alleged illegal detention and harassment suffered by the daughter of a Christian family headed by Sat Pal Masih.
Kumar said Chaman Lal Masih was arrested following the registration of an FIR against him based on the statement of Sat Pal Masih.
Sat Pal Masih alleged that Chaman Lal Masih had taken his daughter to an undisclosed location on the pretext of attending a ‘satsang’ on January 7 and had kept her in illegal detention somewhere in Machhiwara for about three weeks.
Though the victim’s family was trying to use its influence for her release, nothing concrete happened until social activists led by Nihang Paramjit Singh Khalsa of Taruna Dal used mild force to get her released on Thursday.
A video regarding allegations levelled by the victim’s family and claims and warnings made by the Nihang leader had gone viral on social media late Thursday evening, following which the Khanna police clarified that a probe had been initiated into the sequence of events leading to the illegal detention of the victim.
The investigating team is yet to verify the allegations about the alleged dubious past life of the accused and his wife’s involvement in the case.
