It called the act ‘inappropriate’
24 February, 2026 – New Delhi : The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology, chaired by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, on Tuesday passed a resolution strongly condemning the disruption at the AI Impact Summit, where members of the Congress Youth Wing allegedly staged a “shirtless protest,” calling the act inappropriate and harmful to India’s image on a global platform.
Committee members across party line described the protest as an attempt to embarrass the nation in front of foreign delegates and international representatives attending the summit.
The panel today held its meeting on oral evidence of the representatives of the Ministries of Electronics and Information Technology and Information and Broadcasting on Demands for Grants (2026-27).
It may be noted that on February 19, a group of Congress youth workers barged into the India AI Impact Summit venue at Bharat Mandapam, many of them shirtless, protesting against the India–US trade deal and raising slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The incident has not gone down well with other prominent INDIA bloc party leaders, who openly condemned the act by the Congress, calling it ‘damaging India’s global standing.’
Prominent leaders who condemned the manner in which the Congress held the protest include Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav; BSP supremo and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati; YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy; RJD leader Manoj Jha; and Trinamool Congress leaders, among others.”
