Amritsar : Even though anti-drone systems have been put in place along the Indo-Pak border, intrusions of drones into the Indian territory remain rampant.
The Border Security Force (BSF) has neutralised and recovered four drones carrying a total of one pistol and two packets of contraband in the past 24 hours – three from Amritsar and one from Tarn Taran. 1.15 kg of heroin has also been confiscated.
A BSF spokesperson said that during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, BSF observed regular trespassing of unmanned aerial vehicles in the Pul Moran border village.
“Immediately, anti-drone systems were activated and neutralized three China-made DJI Mavic 3 classic drones carrying a pistol and two packets of heroin,” he said.
In a similar incident, BSF troops and Punjab Police conducted a joint search operation after they received input in Dal village area of Tarn Taran from where a crash landed DJI AIR 3 drone was found in the watered paddy fields. However, no packet was found near it. It was suspected the consignment was already retrieved before the security agencies could find it.
Additionally, on the intervening night of July 17-18, the BSF had foiled multiple drone sorties and neutralised six flying machines leading to the recovery of 2.34 kg of heroin from the Pul Moran and Roranwala Khurd border villages.
In a third occurrence on July 24, the BSF had shot down six drones and seized three pistols and over 1 kg contraband attached with them. Five of them were recovered in Modhe village and one was at Attari.
