30 March, 2026 – Phagwara : GNA University celebrates a remarkable achievement by its students at the India Skills Competition–North Zone, where participants from 9 states and a Union Territory competed across 63 skill categories, with more than 360 selected participants demonstrating exceptional technical expertise and professional skills.
Students from the School of Engineering, Design and Automation at GNA University delivered an outstanding performance, bringing laurels to the university and the state of Punjab. In the Robot Systems Integration category, Goransh Sharma and Ekamjeet Singh, B.Tech students of Robotics and Automation Engineering, showcased exceptional technical skills and secured the gold medal.
In another proud achievement, Vishesh Verma, a B.Tech student of Mechanical Automation Engineering, earned the silver medal in the CNC Milling category for his remarkable technical precision and performance.
The competition was held at BSNL Ground, Agra on 14th March. The ceremony was graced by Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, as the chief guest. The event was further honoured by the presence of Yogendra Upadhyay, Minister of Higher Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh and Kapil Dev Agarwal, Minister of State for Vocational Education and Skill Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh. Raj Kumar Chahar, Member of Parliament and Arunkumar Pillai, CEO of NSDC, along with other dignitaries and industry leaders, also attended the event.
All three students have now been selected for the grand finale of the national-level competition, marking another milestone for GNA University .
Expressing his pride on the achievement, Dr CR Tripathy, dean–School of Engineering, Design and Automation, said, “This remarkable achievement reflects the dedication, technical competence and innovative mind-set of our students. At GNA University, we emphasise hands-on learning and industry-oriented training, which empowers our students to compete and excel at prestigious national platforms like the India Skills Competition.”
