An Inter-School Seminar on the “Life and Teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji” was held at Anandpur Sahib, Punjab on 06 November 2019. The seminar was hosted by Sri Guru Har Krishen Public School, Anandpur Sahib. Other participating schools were SGS Khalsa Senior Secondary School and the two Sri Guru Har Krishen Public Schools of Bibi Moolan Devei and Sri Kiratpur Sahib respectively.
The event was held under the stewardship of Sardar Iqbal Singh Lalpura, President of the Sri Guru Har Krishen Public Schools located in Anandpur Sahib, Bibi Moolan Devei and Sri Kiratpur Sahib and graciously hosted by to Sardar Gurminder Singh Bhullar, Principal, Sri Guru Har Krishen Public School, Anandpur Sahib.
Colonel Jaibans Singh, a reputed journalist, columnist and author was invited as Chief Guest.
Other prominent dignitaries included Principal Surinder Singh (Member, SGPC), Professor Fumman Singh, S. Mohinder Singh Walia (Former President, Municipal Committee), Jathedar Santokh Singh, Pandit Hari Om Sharma (President, Sanatan Dharam Sabha), S. Sarbjit Singh Rainu (President, Punjab Human Rights Organization), S.Kuldeep Singh Banga (Senior Congress Leader), S. Baghel Singh Bawa (Singer) and S.Harjit Singh Achint (Sr. Akali Leader) among others.
The students exhibited an in-depth knowledge about Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Sikh religion. Their articulation was precise and eloquent. A high point of the seminar was that the invitees also spoke in between to add to the lustre of the event with their deep knowledge.
In his address, Colonel Jaibans Singh congratulated the students for the excellent eloquence shown in the speeches. He said that the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji should be understood and applied in letter and spirit. The Guru should be regarded more as a friend and a mentor from whom guidance and blessings can be taken at all times. He exhorted the students to join the Armed Forces, which is an honoured tradition for the people of Punjab and more so for the Sikhs.
Sardar Iqbal Singh Lalpura said that by adhering to the teachings of the great Guru, the young generation should try to elevate itself to the level of Devtas (higher beings). He stressed upon the need to maintain simplicity as a hall mark of existence in accordance with the teachings of the Guru.
