14 April, 2026 – Amritsar : Sikhs from around the world and across the country are celebrating Khalsa Sajna diwas (birth anniversary of Khalsa Panth) and Baisakhi at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Tuesday.

Dressed in beautiful clothing, devotees have been standing in serpentine queues to pay their obeisance at the Sach Khand, the sanctum sanctorum, which stands in the middle of the Amrit Sarovar and is joined to the rest of the shrine by a causeway.

Sangat (devotees) have been standing in queues that cross over the causeway since dawn, listening to Gurbani with devotion and rapt attention. The SGPC has made elaborate arrangements for the convenience of devotees.

Sewadars, joined by the sangat, are constantly mopping the floor of the circumambulation. Chabeel, free water kiosks, are serving water to devotees.

On the occasion of Khalsa Sajna diwas, the Golden Temple demonstrates its universal appeal as people from diverse backgrounds and different countries come together to do Sewa at the Golden Temple and Sri Guru Ramdas Ji Langar hall, which is serving a choice of dishes to mark the auspicious occasion. For one of the holiest occasions in the Sikh religion, Sri Guru Ramdas Ji Langar, known for serving free food 24/7 all year round, is offering an array of sweet dishes to the sangat. These dishes include Jalebi, Bundi laddu, Besan laddu, Kheer, and Kadah, popularly known as Parshad, and sweetened rice.

During the main course, devotees are being served salted rice, daal (lentil), a vegetable, Karhi, besides salad and mixed pickles.
