New Delhi, October 10, 2026 — To commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan, a grand birth anniversary celebration and special discussion will be held in New Delhi on October 11, 2026. The programme will take place from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Kamaladevi Bhawan, 5, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg, New Delhi – 110002, a historic place associated with the work of Shri Jayaprakash Narayan.
The event is being jointly organised by the Brihaspati Welfare Foundation and the Association of Voluntary Agencies for Rural Development (AVARD). The central theme of the programme is “Loknayak: Kal, aaj aur Kal (Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow).” The discussion aims to explore in depth the contemporary and future relevance of Loknayak’s ideas, his call for Total Revolution, and his vision for rural development in India.
The key convenors of the programme are Padma Shri awardee and renowned sculptor Adwaita Charan Gadanayak, former Director General of the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) and former Vice President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Adwaita Charan Gadanayak is President of the Brihaspati Welfare Foundation, and Dr. B. Mishra is President of AVARD.

AVARD is a historic organisation working to promote rural development and empower voluntary organisations. Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan himself was closely associated with the organisation and served as its President from 1960 to 1979 till his death.
