Says people in Punjab want a change; attributes BJP’s rise to development agenda
04 May, 2026 – Ludhiana : Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Bittu has reacted to the performance of the BJP in West Bengal, saying it would now be “takhta palat” in Punjab, as people here have made up their mind to make a change for the betterment of the state.
He said many people in Punjab are scared because of the cases being registered against those who oppose the government; however, many have made up their mind to vote for the BJP.
Speaking to The Tribune over phone, Bittu said, “The West Bengal results reflect the larger situation in the state, alleging the presence of mafia, drugs and illegal sand mining.”
“But it is a regime change there, and now it’s Punjab’s turn. People are fed up with these issues. Why is the BJP rising? It is because we have only one agenda, which is development.”
He accused the state governments with the opposition rule of engaging in blame game and targeting the BJP and the Centre instead of addressing their own shortcomings.
According to him, people have begun to see through this and are now prioritising development as a path to progress.
He added that the party’s performance in West Bengal has boosted the morale of its cadre.
